„I’m into men, I’m 30 years old and I work as an elementary teacher“, says Frank, who sometimes dresses up as Peggy. In drag he meets Bernd – and takes him directly from the cinema to his home. From that moment on, they are a couple. Frank enjoys being with Bernd, but he also wants to keep his freedom, e.g. meeting other men and having anonymous sex in parks and on public toilets. Bernd’s dreams of a monogamous relationship and a calm life on a farm are not what Frank is after. On the annual drag ball, it all ends up in a fuss …
In „Taxi to the Toilet“ director and main actor Frank Ripploh tells his own life story: Before becoming a filmmaker, he worked as a teacher in a school in West Berlin, his openness regarding his own homosexuality costed him his job. Ripploh’s film is not just an erotic, absurdly funny journey into the Eighties gay scene, but also a touching, completely independent piece of queer cinematic history.
